GOD WITH US

My new tat! It says Immanuel in Hebrew! It means "God with us" and is taken from Isaiah 7:14
"Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel." And then Matthew uses the same message in Chapter 1 when talking about Jesus!

So, just like my tat will always be with me, God will always be with me! Hallelujah! When people ask what it means they are in fact asking me to preach the gospel to them! How Isaiah prophesied about Jesus, the Saviour, 600 years before He was born!

2) Im not under law but under grace...

1. Read the passage again - cutting the body was for the dead. The law against tattos had nothing to do with the dead.

2. That's fine, just make sure then that you never quote the Old Testament to justify anything that you think is a sin. You can't use the Old when it suits you then disregard it when it doesn't suit.

I think this is a great way to get God conversations started. Dont let others put your down - be bold and be strong.

I pray for your protection regularly.

Don't read the commentaries, read the bible. Any translation. I'll give you a couple - NIV "Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the Lord." KJV - "Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord." If it linked tattooing to the dead the NIV version would have read along the lines of - "Do not cut you bodies nor put tattoo marks on yourselves for the dead". But it doesn't, it keeps them as two separate matters.

Wow, for saving souls, I think I'd pretty much do anything!

For the guys u hang out with Jamsie, this is entirely appropriate to reach them and I back you all the way - hey, another idea... what about tattooing the Salvo uniform S's near your collarbones? that would be radical.... hehe

Keep preaching it!

funny you say that jo,

apparently theres some hawaiian surfer salvos who have the S's on their wrists so when theyre surfing theyre still in uniform!

i want to do that, but i dunno whether to get red or blue S's...lol

thanks everyone for commenting!

I am afraid i agree with my fellow anonymous here when he quoted this bit of scripture and that marking the body in such a way is not the way to go.

Some of you guys need to lighten up!!

Preach it and keep living it out Jamsie!!

All Glory to God - even if it is in tattoo form!! lol

So many people are turned off Christianity because Christians are often portrayed as being dorky etc. We need to be relevent and fit into the world without conforming so that connections can be made with unsaved people. If this tatoo produces a talking point praise be to God.

I am so proud of you James keep up that passionate zeal and let nothing smother the flame.

Do some research - in memory of the dead is context - is anyone advocating a return to mosaic law? if not shut up and trim your beard!
